Working in Coactive is fast paced. Adding a few more Designers to an app space can introduce some challenges for keeping track of who is making modifications to each Form or Report. Ever heard of Online Document Collaboration, where two or more users open a document or spreadsheet online and edit together? In this environment, users can instantly see each other's changes as they are made to the document. Imagine if this were possible for low-code, extreme rapid application development. It is now!
Introducing Collaborative Online Application Development (COAD) by Coactive. As changes to Forms and Reports are made in an App Space, other developers' environments are automatically updated. This drastically reduces the number of times a developer has to reload the application to see changes from other developer.
Additionally, developers are notified when another developer is making changes to a Form or Report, alerting the developers to communicate with each other and coordinate their work more closely. A click to the warning banner shows exactly who has pending changes.
Finally, developers are alerted when a change has been committed to a Form or Report that they currently have open. This notification provides alert that the Form is Out-of-Sync and should be reopened before additional changes are made.
Why can't I merge my changes with another designer's changes?
Since there are no code files to "merge" like in traditional development, overwriting another designer's change can become a real possibility. Changes to Forms are not able to be merged because the Form or Report is treated like an object, containing everything it needs to look and behave properly.
In the future, the development team plans to enable merging Form and Report changes when designers' changes conflict.
